How Can You Support HCC?

Become a Host Organization

The cornerstone of HCC’s success is the dedication of organizations and preceptors to host HCC interns. HCC is fortunate to have grown its program consistently over the past 20 years with the help of committed individuals and organizations who provide valuable internship experiences. In addition to the invaluable educational experience, HCC interns make substantial contributions to their placements and often get hired by their host organizations to continue their development while greatly impacting the organizations and communities they serve. Hosting an intern is a very rewarding personal and professional experience. If you would like to serve as a host organization or find out more, please visit our Become A Host Organization section. Sponsor Interns

Many organizations and individuals provide funding for interns in organizations that are unable to pay but would like to host and HCC intern. The California HealthCare Foundation, The California Wellness Foundation, The Blue Shield Foundation of California, Blue Cross-Blue Shield Foundation of Massachusetts, Bronx HCOP, Kaiser Community Benefit and Partners Healthcare are examples of organizations that have provided funds to sponsor HCC interns. Individuals and anonymous donors have also provided funding. HCC is now working with our over 1000 alumni to contribute to sponsor interns coming behind them. Interns funded through sponsor fees work in community health centers, public health departments, advocacy organizations, public hospitals, pipeline programs or community based organizations.

Provide Core Operating Support

HCC’s organizational development and core operations have been supported by program fees paid by host organizations and by contributions for core operating support. The California Endowment, The California Wellness Foundation, The Eustace-Kwan Family Foundation and individuals have provided core operating support. Our founding sponsors all provided core operating support. Click here to learn more about HCC's partners. With these funds, we can support interns, alumni or organizations.

Donate

HCC also welcomes individual and organizational donations to help it continue to meet its mission of diversifying the health professions. Your help is absolutely necessary to allow HCC to provide its services at a high level of quality. Please visit our Donate section if you’d like to make a contribution.

In-Kind Support

Some organizations can not provide funding but can provide in-kind support such as space and speakers for workshops, recruitment of students, brochures, legal support, website development, event planning advice, facilities for HCC fundraising events, software etc. If you are able to provide valuable in-kind support please contact Trisha Lee Garcia at tlgarcia@healthcareers.org.

Volunteer

HCC is always looking for inspiring individuals and health professionals to serve as a volunteer. Roles include mentoring interns and expanding their horizons, conducting outreach to students and host organizations, assisting in the interview process, and serving as guest speakers for HCC events and workshops. If you’d like to serve as a volunteer, please use the General Support form to convey your interest.
