Support Health Career Connection

HCC’s programs and support provide a unique “win-win-win-win” benefit:

  • Provides a “life changing opportunity” for young people, particularly those from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds, discover the health career that best suits them and realize their full potential.
  • Connects health organizations to talented, caring diverse future health leaders and professionals at a time when both are needed more than ever.
  • During and after the internship students make powerful contributions to the organizations they are in and the communities they serve.
  • Increases the number of diverse health leaders and professionals capable of solving our 21st century health challenges and motivated to improve the health of underserved communities.

Needs:

The demand for HCC’s invaluable programs far exceeds its capacity.

  • Each year HCC has over 2500 qualified, deserving internship applicants and is only able to provide opportunities for 125.
  • HCC could more than triple the number of interns with sufficient support for intern stipends and the organizational capacity to place and support them.
  • HCC also has many more host organizations that would like to provide a valuable internship experience to interns but cant afford the stipend. Most of these organizations serve or advocate on behalf of underserved communities. There are numerous projects focused on improving the health of underserved communities that interns could work on with sufficient funding.
  • HCC needs core operating support to increase the quality, scale and impact of our proven services and programs.
