Health organizations have an increasing need for talented, diverse professionals and future leaders. Implementation of Health Reform, the aging of our population and health workforce and the increasing diversity of our population make this need more urgent and important. Becoming a Host Organization for HCC Interns is a powerful, tangible and cost-effective way to advance your health workforce and diversity goals, contribute to priority projects and make an important difference in the life and careers of future health professionals.
HCC has a proven 20 year track record of placing capable, diverse interns in health organizations throughout the country. HCC makes it easy and rewarding for Host Organizations to select and host interns. HCC sources, recruits, screens and interviews intern candidates based on the criteria defined by Host Organizations. HCC manages the placement process from start to completion and presents organizations with a manageable pool of candidates for selection. HCC’s strength is finding the strongest possible “fit” between intern candidate passions, goals and skills and the experience, projects and opportunities that Host Organizations offer.
HCC interns are talented, diverse undergraduate students who are passionate about becoming health leaders and professionals. They need the exposure, experience and mentoring that health organizations offer to determine the health career direction that best suits them and launch their careers and networks. HCC interns bring a drive to learn and contribute. They have analytical, writing, research, interpersonal and project skills to go along with their passion for making a difference in health. Many also have valuable language and cultural skill and community knowledge to contribute.
In addition to the educational experience they receive, interns make valuable contributions during and after the internship. 95% of HCC Host Organizations report the highest possible satisfaction with HCC interns and repeat as hosts. Many host multiple interns. Over 60% of HCC interns are hired by their host organization upon completion of their internship or education. Others go on to graduate school in public health, medicine, business, law or other clinical careers.
