Serve and Lead as a Volunteer

At the heart of the HCC Alumnae Association is a committed and diverse volunteer community. Whether you have one hour or one hundred hours to give, the generosity of HCC alumni and other stakeholders collectively drives the success of our programs and lifelong impact.

  • Want to support HCC programs? From reading applications to leading a workshop or event planning, there are numerous opportunities to showcase and build your skills through HCC volunteer roles.
  • Have limited time to offer? Unique projects and special events may be perfect for you! Examples include data reporting where you work directly with one HCC staff member or short-term planning committee support for conferences and milestone anniversary celebrations.
  • Eager to connect with other HCC Alumni through our network communities? Find like-minded professionals in the HCC Alumni network, apply for a leadership role, and/or support local or national efforts through shared interest groups.
  • Looking for in-person volunteer options? Regional Chapter volunteers help plan local events such as networking hours, lectures, and panels. These volunteers also assist the HCC National Team by organizing prospective and admitted intern events. Visit HCC Alumni Communities for more information about our Regional Chapters and stay tuned for details about how to start a new chapter in your area!

Refer a Friend

HCC Alumni may know someone – maybe it’s a classmate, a friend, or even a sibling – who could benefit from participating in an HCC program. Check here in the Fall for more information about how to promote HCC to prospective interns.

HCC alumni also are likely to meet other professionals who share our program values who are interested in offering their skills or expertise toward our programs. Contact us at info@healthcareers.org if you know someone who wants to support HCC programs as a volunteer.

Host an Intern

HCC needs your support to continue expanding opportunities to future professionals, and hosting an intern is undoubtedly the most immediately impactful way to support our mission.

  • Ready to host at your organization? We encourage alumni in mid-to senior-level to be a preceptor. For those in entry-level positions, you may want to consider encouraging your employer to be a host organization. In some cases, HCC may be able to subsidize all or some of the costs of hosting an intern.
  • Don’t have the capacity to host yourself? Refer HCC to your network of health professionals and encourage them to be a host organization. Referrals from trusted colleagues who are also living examples of HCC’s impact can make all the difference to a potential preceptor and host organization.

For your convenience, HCC has put together an outreach packet that includes templates and flyers with information about our programs to share with your organization and contacts. Learn more about how to Host an Intern.

Partner with HCC

HCC can’t do this work alone; our success in impacting communities is tied to our community partnerships. In addition to host organizations, we partner with government workforce and pathway development programs, graduate and professional schools, as well as non-profit, corporate, and other groups that share our mission of empowering the next generation of diverse healthcare leaders. Together, we create a strong network of support for the professionals and communities who need us most. Learn more about HCC Partnerships here.

Donate and Fundraise

With each dollar, our donors help bring HCC’s mission to life.

  • HCC makes the most of every gift received. Donate today to support our commitment to ensuring that diverse professionals from BIPOC and marginalized communities get the support they need to pursue education and careers related to health.
  • Help us meet our alumni participation goals. Fundraising volunteers work directly with HCC staff to educate their cohorts and local communities about the significance of alumni support. Learn more about supporting fundraising efforts as an HCC volunteer.

Whether you are giving individually or promoting fundraising efforts, your financial support is a critical factor to maintain and expand the quality of HCC programs now and into the future. Learn more about How to Contribute.
